In the spring, I am happiest after a long day of digging in the dirt with the sun shining down, curled feet up on the couch or stretched out on the deck, drink in hand, & the cool, night spring breeze skittering across my skin. Yes, you could say this is one of my happy places.
Have you noticed that there’s a certain kind of tired that only comes following a day of working or playing outdoors, particularly in the first few weeks of getting the opportunity as cold winter temps fade away? There’s a certain quality to it that is hard to find elsewhere. And if you’re lucky, it will be followed with a seriously deep & rejuvenating sleep.
Tonight may just be one of those nights for me; my eyes just slightly burn with fatigue when I close them. This was a busy weekend for us – the first big landscaping weekend we've had this year. On our list, we cleaned up the succulent path (they survived winter!), reclaimed a chunk of garden that had turned into yard from lack of use since moving in, trimmed dead branches including pruning the lavender back, and planted 5 new goji berry bushes after extending the berry patch to fit them. It was a busy weekend indeed! #crushedit But truly the best kind, filled with fresh air & tired muscles. I will sleep sound & happy tonight.
We have an exciting summer ahead of us, as we keep working on transforming lazy landscaping to functional landscaping (stay tuned, I'll explain this soon), many outdoor adventures, trips, & summer concerts. I can’t wait to share it all with you!
